3 UK, NTT DoCoMo to launch international 3G service

British mobile operator Hutchison 3 UK Ltd. (3 UK) and Japanese wireless giant NTT DoCoMo Inc. are poised to offer the world’s first third-generation (3G) mobile video phone service between their home markets at the start of next month.

The service will allow customers of both carriers to make video phone calls between the U.K. and Japan at an initial speed of 64Kbps, DoCoMo said Wednesday in a statement.
